NLSC Junior Officer, Sailor of the Quarter

Lt. Jon T. Taylor, assigned to Defense Service Office North, was selected as Naval Legal Service Command's Junior Officer of the Quarter. As the core attorney for the Washington Navy Yard Headquarters Office, Taylor carried the heaviest caseload throughout Defense Service Office North. He defended three contested trials, six Article 32 hearings and two guilty plea hearings. As Command Training Officer, he implemented a command training plan that successfully provided training to DSO North personnel, spread across seven offices and multiple time zones. During the tragic Washington Navy Yard shooting, Taylor calmly took charge when the DSO North building became an evacuation point for personnel affected by the tragedy. Legalman 1st Class Marcus T. Thomas, assigned to Region Legal Service Office Mid-Atlantic, who was selected as Naval Legal Service Command's Sailor of the Quarter. Thomas provided outstanding leadership and support to 19 Sailors, seven attorneys, five civilians and two branch offices, overseeing the successful completion of 600 powers of attorney, 100 will executions, and countless data entries and reports in the Case Management and Tracking Information System (CMTIS). Thomas devotedly served as Command Career Counselor, Exceptional Family Member Program Coordinator, Command Sponsorship Coordinator and President of the RLSO MIDLANT First Class Petty Officer Association.  As the Command Career Counselor, he successfully managed the naval careers of almost 100 Sailors assigned to RLSO MIDLANT. , assigned to Region Legal Service Office Mid-Atlantic, who was selected as Naval Legal Service Command's Sailor of the Quarter.
